Art in a Nutshell
Moravian Gallery in Brno - The Governor´s Palace

The inspiration for the educational exhibition came from a small pocket
encyclopaedia called Reason in your pocket, which has been illuminating the paths of many of you during your school years for more than 50 years. Like these little books, the Art in a Nutshell exhibit aims to provide a selection of essential knowledge, understanding and skills that every gallery visitor should know about art. The aim was to create an exhibition that would be inspiring for regular gallery visitors, but also accessible to those encountering art for the first time. The authors sought to find a common clue in the wide range of knowledge and information in the visual arts from which we could start together, deepen our experience of the art around us and understand it better. The exhibition can serve as a guide to the world of art, broadening horizons and enhancing the ability to perceive, appreciate and understand art. It is also a social experiment that helps us get to know each other better. The exhibition space of the Governor´s Palace is divided into six chapters that open up themes related to people, things, situations and circumstances that surround them directly and indirectly throughout their lives. Here you will find works spanning periods, artistic styles and art forms. Information panels with concept cards are an integral part of the exhibition.
