Licking artworks as a tool for critical thinking
As gallery visitors, we are all very mindful of the limits that are placed on our behavior. Once we enter an art institution, we know that in this place, we are not to touch anything and keep quiet. Not once do we allow ourselves to express our feelings too obnoxiously or too loudly. We all know that in most context the conversation between an artwork and a recipient is one-sided one. However might the art piece provoke us, we are not to retaliate against it. Instead, we keep our thoughts and feelings for later, and we discuss them afterwards in a more informal setting. The authors of this walk, members of an art group měkký í, refuse to limit their imagination by these expectations.
During this walk, we invite you to keep an open mind and entertain the thought of licking an artwork as a way to express your uncertainty about its meaning and quality.
We will meet at the entrance to Fait gallery where will our adventure begin.
The collective reflection of our experiences will take place at Antikaviát pub at 6 pm.
At any point during this walk, participants have the choice to leave the group and rejoin it at a different stop or at the end.
!Instructions by the authors will be given in Czech. Translator will be available upon request.!
