Memorial of Light

The light objects of Zuzana Bartošová, the neon UV active airbrush paintings of Martin Kapošváry and the fluorescent land art installation of the Cikumpunkt group have one thing in common - they use light as an artistic medium.

In the Memorial of Light event, we will gradually present artistic interventions at Mahen’s memorial, which we prepared as part of Brno Art Week 2025 in the Jiří Mahen Library. At the end of the evening, we will discover another layered alter-ego of Martin Kapošváry, who as Magorius1 will guide us through the neon world with darkened chill-out music.

17:00 Cirkumpunkt (Markéta Váradiová & Iva Kolorenčová): Islands of the Czech Mediterranean - guided tour of land art intervention in the garden
18:00 Zuzana Bartošová: Decimation of the Mahen Memorial - guided tour of the artistic intervention in the winter garden
19:00 Martin Kapošváry: Wandering through the neon world - guided tour of the painting exhibition on the stairs of the Mahen Memorial and site-specific installation in the attic
20:00 Magorius1: Chill-out zone - this live music will show you that tonight the library will not only be about borrowing books, you will experience a little Berlin!
