Presentation of the book: Kristina Láníková – Léčení
In her artistic documentation, Kristina Láníková visually explores the experience of long-term use of psychopharmaceuticals and their withdrawal. The book includes preparatory sketches, photographs of objects, a series of handwritten “apologies,” and assemblages. The individual series intentionally work with a limited set of motifs and materials, such as outlines of plasters, drug packaging, skin scraps, impressions of drug blisters, small medical and office supplies, and note cards. The artist methodically addresses a topic often regarded as intimate, presenting it in an economical, repetitive, almost coded manner. By doing so, she removes the vulnerability inherent in the subject from the personal sphere and presents it as a shared limitation.
Kristina Láníková (*1988) is a visual artist and poet. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. She has exhibited both individually and in group shows, including at the Kurzor Gallery, sam83 Gallery, Prague City Gallery, Brno House of Arts, and GAVU / AVU Gallery. Her poetry collections include Pomlčka v těle (2015), Krátké dějiny zraňování (2017), Úvahy nad zájmeny (2020), and Puma M (2023). She occasionally contributes to A2, a cultural biweekly.
