Dalibor Chatrný: Šňůrou
Dalibor Chatrný: Šňůrou
Leoš Janáček Memorial
March 14 – May 4, 2025
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Dalibor Chatrný, one of the most significant Czech artists of the second half of the 20th century.
The Moravian Museum and the Leoš Janáček Memorial will commemorate this anniversary with five exhibitions, each showcasing a different aspect of Chatrný’s extensive and diverse body of work.
The first exhibition, Šňůrou, explores the artist’s experiments with ropes as an artistic medium. Chatrný investigated various ways to incorporate ropes into his projects, from loosely connecting fragments of a painting, using rope as a form of drawing in two- and three-dimensional space, to linking separate surfaces in different ways. He engaged with this theme from the mid-1960s to the early 1970s and revisited it significantly after 2000.
The exhibition will feature works created between 1968 and 1978.
